Behavior Consultation

This is a unique service Dr. Lerner has to offer. He has had great success treating problems such as dog aggression, fear aggression, "dominance" aggression, house training issues, compulsive disorders and specific phobias. He has devoted a large portion of his veterinary practice to the study and treatment of behavior issues and regularly meets with clients and their "problem pooches".  He keeps up to date on the latest in treatments, both pharmaceutical options and behavior modification techniques. A behavior consultation affords the client and their dog over an hour of time one-on-one with Dr. Lerner.

Private Lessons

These classes are truly for teaching and learning. Dogs that are incredibly over-excitable, dog aggressive or fearful can be taught in a quiet, comfortable atmosphere that is very conducive to learning. Work at your own pace, without concern for class deadlines and missed lessons. This option allows the trainer to delve into very specific issues that are unique to each dog.

Puppy Kindergarten

For pups between 7 and 14 weeks. Please get your puppies started as early as possible! The benefits of early socialization and interaction greatly outweigh any health risks! Dr. Lerner is a very strong proponent of puppy kindergarten. This class is structured around the young puppy's growing mind. It involves heavy socialization - with both other puppies and other people - as well as the beginnings of the basic obedience program. "Puppy sized" agility equipment is used for fun, confidence-building activities. Potty training and crate training are also discussed in detail, as are the nasty chewing/biting habits many puppies develop. This is a fun, upbeat class and offers a wonderful way to expose your puppy's budding brain to the world around him.

Basic Obedience

This course is for dogs over the age of 4 months.  Less emphasis on socialization and more on the fundamentals of proper obedience techniques.  The foundations of this course are loose-leash walking, sits, downs, recalls, manners and above all, teaching our guys self-control. 
This is a prerequisite to our board and train off-leash program. 

Target age: 4 months and up  Duration: 6 weeks

Board and Train Program

A 10-15 day stay at Terrapin K9 is required for this intensive program.  This is advanced training for those clients wanting the ultimate in off leash control.  One of our trainers will be working one-on one with your dog while it is here, resulting in the ability to let your dog off leash to run around and get the exercise and freedom that they want.  All with the peace of mind that they are still under control.
